How to quickly identify if a manufacturer has cut corners by reducing the thickness of the UV layer?

Here are three easy methods that don’t require professional equipment. A few simple steps can expose manufacturers cutting corners:

1. RMB UV Test Method (Most Practical) This method only requires one RMB note and one UV light for verification. The steps are simple:

Shine the UV light on the RMB note; you should see a clear anti-counterfeiting fluorescent mark.

Place the hollow PC board to be tested over the anti-counterfeiting mark and continue shining the UV light through the board.

Observe the results: If the anti-counterfeiting mark completely disappears, the board has a qualified UV absorption layer. If the anti-counterfeiting mark is still clearly visible, the UV layer is either too thin or not added at all.

2. Burn Test to Determine Raw Material Purity: PC itself is a flame-retardant material. New, high-quality PC sheets with a qualified UV coating will produce almost no pungent black smoke when burned. Take a small piece of scrap material and ignite it. If it produces only a small amount of light smoke and extinguishes itself after being removed from the flame, it’s likely made from qualified new material with a qualified UV coating. If it produces a large amount of pungent black smoke and a strong plastic odor when burned, it’s likely made from recycled materials, and the UV coating is probably substandard, with a lifespan of only 3-5 years.

3. Light Transmission Observation: Examining the surface and internal condition of the sheet can provide a preliminary assessment of quality. Hold the sheet up to a light source. A smooth, flat surface without pits, black spots, bubbles, or dense ripples indicates pure raw materials and a uniform UV coating. If many impurities or uneven textures are visible, it indicates impure raw materials or poor processing. The UV coating is likely also unevenly distributed, and the sheet will age and crack quickly.
